community centered care
Throughout our lives, we are sometimes faced with a variety of situations that may become unmanageable. The primary goal of Moultrie Counseling is to assist the individual in meeting these unique and often difficult challenges.
Services begin with an initial assessment with our Intake Specialists. During this phase, general information is gathered regarding the individual, background, family history, and reasons for seeking agency services. This information is presented to our Interdisciplinary team in order to determine what services are necessary. A Primary Clinician will be responsible for coordinating mental health services.
Each individual is asked to participate in developing a treatment plan as part of the treatment process. Working with the Primary Clinician, an individualized treatment plan is developed that focuses on the client's personal strengths, needs, choices, and preferences.

Telehealth
To accommodate the needs of our clients, Moultrie Counseling now offers telehealth counseling to our established clients as an additional, convenient way to receive mental health services. Telehealth can be used along with traditional office visits. Your therapist may provide treatment from the office but switch to telehealth when a person is out of town or cannot commute to the office. Telehealth can be offered in two ways:

EMDR Therapy
Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing therapy is an extensively researched, effective psychotherapy method proven to help people recover from trauma and other distressing life experiences, including PTSD, anxiety, depression, and panic disorders. **The American Psychiatric Association, the American Psychological Association, the International Society for Traumatic Stress Studies, the National Alliance on Mental Illness, the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration, the U.S. Dept. of Veterans Affairs/Dept. of Defense, and World Health Organization among many other national and international organizations recognize EMDR therapy as an effective treatment. |
Certified Peer & Recovery Support
A Certified Peer Support Specialist or Certified Recovery Support Specialist (CRSS) is a trained professional who shares their "lived experience" of resiliency and healing to inspire others and carry a message of hope. A CRSS professional is trained and credentialed to support those who struggle with mental health, trauma, and support challenges. Certified peer support specialists assist their peers in articulating their goals for recovery, developing self-advocacy skills, helping them monitor their progress, supporting them in their treatment, modeling effective coping techniques and self-help strategies based on the specialist's own personal experience, supporting them in advocating for themselves to obtain effective services, and developing and implementing recovery plans. In 2007, the Department of Health and Human Services recognized peer support services as an evidence-based practice. It also informed all 50 state Medicaid directors that The Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services would pay for peer support services, provided that peer support specialists--like other types of healthcare providers--were governed by a statewide training and credentialing program. ** As of 2016, 42 US states, the District of Columbia, and the Veterans' Administration have adopted such programs to train and certify individuals to work as peer support specialists. |
Supported Employment Program
Moultrie Counseling provides evidence-based Individual Placement and Support services to established clients ages 18 and up. We complete a career profile, promote rapid job search, provide peer support, benefits counseling, job development, and job retention supports. During your initial assessment with your mental health counselor, you will be asked your employment status. If you and your counselor decide that employment should be incorporated into your treatment plan, you will be referred into our Individual Placement and Support program. |
Play Therapy
Play therapy is a form of therapy used primarily for children. Depending on age and stage of development, children simply don’t have the language skills of adults. They may feel something, but in many cases, they either can’t express it to an adult or don’t have a trusted adult to express it to. A trained therapist can use playtime to observe and gain insights into a child’s problems. The therapist can then help the child explore emotions and deal with unresolved trauma. Through play, children can learn new coping mechanisms and how to redirect inappropriate behaviors. Play therapists use their observations as a guide to the next steps. Each child is different, so therapy will be tailored to their individual needs. As therapy progresses, behaviors and goals can be reassessed. |
