Penny Arthur was hired as a case manager for Moultrie County Counseling in 1998. She had worked for social service agencies since 1991 in a variety of positions... including Literacy Coordinator, Summer Youth Counselor, Project Assistant, and Counselor/Dislocated Worker Program. Penny completed her Bachelor’s of Arts from Eastern IL University in 2000 and a Master’s Degree in Family Consumer Science from Eastern Illinois University in 2013. She has been a Certified Recovery Support Specialist since 2007. She completed the 40-hour Domestic Violence training in 1999 and works with victims/perpetrators of domestic violence. Penny has had training and certification for several Evidence Based Interventions, including PEARLS (Program to Encourage Active Rewarding Live S), WRAP (Wellness Recovery Action Planning), A Matter of Balance, Chronic Disease Self-Management Program, Diabetes Self-Management Program, and Thriving and Surviving with Cancer. Penny provides case management, community support services, and counseling services based on Holistic and Integrative therapies, which involves integrating various elements of different theories to the practice, using the techniques and psychotherapy tools best suited for a particular client and problem. Penny believes in the power of work and recovery. She is the supervisor of the Counseling Center’s Supported Employment Program. On a personal note, Penny is married and has two children, four step-children, three grandchildren, and three step-grandchildren. She and her husband own a machine shop and she is the bookkeeper for the machine shop. She enjoys sewing, crafting, traveling, and reading. |
